Modern slavery and human trafficking statement

Last updated: 6 October 2026

Modern slavery is a crime and a serious abuse of human rights. It includes slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour and human trafficking. In each case, someone's freedom is taken away so that they can be exploited for personal or commercial gain.

CM System Designs Ltd has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery. Our turnover is below the £36 million threshold at which section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 requires a statement, so we publish this one voluntarily. We believe every business, whatever its size, should be open about how it tackles the problem.

Our business

CM System Designs Ltd is a UK software development consultancy based in Dorking, Surrey. We design and build bespoke software, CRM systems, system integrations and AI tools for small and medium-sized businesses. We are led by our two founding directors and do all of our work in the UK.

Our supply chain

Our supply chain is small and mostly made up of digital services. Our main suppliers provide:

  • cloud hosting, software licences and online business tools;
  • computer hardware and IT equipment;
  • professional services such as accountancy, legal advice and insurance;
  • occasionally, specialist freelance or contract support.

Where the risks are

We consider the risk of modern slavery in our own business to be very low. Our work is skilled, office-based professional work, and everyone who works for us is employed or engaged directly, on written terms and at fair rates of pay.

The main risk in our supply chain is in the manufacture of electronics and IT hardware, where forced labour is a known problem in some parts of the world. We reduce this risk by buying equipment from established, reputable manufacturers and suppliers that publish their own modern slavery statements, and by keeping equipment in use for as long as practical rather than replacing it more often than we need to.

What we do

  • We check that everyone who works for us has the right to work in the UK, and we pay them directly into their own bank account.
  • We choose suppliers carefully. Where a supplier is large enough to be required to publish a modern slavery statement, we expect it to do so.
  • We will not knowingly work with any supplier or client involved in modern slavery or human trafficking. We will end a relationship if we find evidence of it that is not addressed.
  • Our directors are aware of the signs of modern slavery and of how to report concerns.

Raising a concern

We encourage anyone who works with us, whether staff, contractors, clients or suppliers, to raise any concern about modern slavery in our business or supply chain as early as possible. Please speak to a director directly or get in touch through our contact form. We will take every concern seriously, and no one will be treated unfairly for raising a genuine concern in good faith, even if it turns out to be mistaken.

If you think someone is in immediate danger, call 999. You can also get confidential advice from the Modern Slavery & Exploitation Helpline on 08000 121 700.

Review

We review this statement every year and whenever our business or supply chain changes significantly.
